The Bronx River is a 37-kilometre long river located in Westchester County, New York. It originates in the Kensico Reservoir then it flows south through White Plains, then southwest through the cities of Edgemont, Tuckahoe and Bronxville. The river then separates Yonkers and Mount Vernon, before reaching the Bronx; it is the only freshwater river in New York City, offering a slice of nature among the tensions of urban life.
The Bronx River Alliance works closely with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to achieve these objectives. It acts as a coordinated voice for the river and works in harmonious partnership to protect, enhance and restore the Bronx River corridor so that it can be an ecological, recreational, educational and economic resource for the communities through which the river flows.
