Wall Street is a street located in the Financial District, the financial district of southern Manhattan in New York City.
This is where the world’s largest stock exchange, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), known simply as Wall Street, is located.
This stock exchange was founded on May 17, 1792 by 24 stockbrokers who then signed a compromise establishing a uniform commission rate for all sales of securities.
Between Thursday 24 October 1929 and Tuesday 29 October 1929 there was what is known as the crash, the biggest economic crisis of the 20th century.
Wall Street stock market indices did not return to values comparable to those that preceded the 1929 crisis until 25 years later and exactly on 23 November 1954.
